Best part of today? Possibly being able to sleep in and wake up refreshed and ready for Easter! As today was a special day, the girls and two boys dressed up for the occasion. When 9:30 struck the students began piling out of their rooms and revealing their Easter outfits. We all ate and did a final check of rooms and by 10:15 everyone was in the van and ready to go.
Mr. Hannay came ready to lead and introduce us to Pinegrove church. It was all seemingly peaceful as we rode in the van with no worries, however we all failed to notice that the trailer was not properly closed! Mr. Hannay had to step out and close it. We started for the road again but the attention of a kind old lady telling us to pullover caught our attention…thank God! If not for her, one luggage would have been lost. Somehow April’s luggage fell out onto the street and we had to park while Mr. Yoder went to fetch it. About fifteen minutes later the group reached Pinegrove church and were introduced to its attendants. We all remembered about how Jesus had risen on that day. The sounds of voices and clapping bounced off the walls as we all worshipped The Lord our God.
After church we were in for a great treat! We all went to Ms. Hannay’s parents’ house and enjoyed an Easter lunch with her family and friends. Greetings were exchanged and photos were taken of our Easter get-ups while Natasha played some soothing pieces on the piano. It wasn't long until we all changed out of our clothes for jeans. “The mash potatoes were on point!” Ted mentioned to Mrs. Hannay. The dessert was good enough for Ted to ask for the recipe. Dessert was eaten and the students were itching to interact with each other and play a game. What followed suit was Trevor, Ms. Hannay’s younger brother, leading us off into the woods to go exploring. Some stayed to take pictures and fool around while others went off to the Hannays’ trampoline to play popcorn. As Trevor ensued in doing flips, many of the other kids tried as well…but failed.
Ted and Trevor left the girls and Gregory on the trampoline. A four-wheeler was spotted and as Ted asked to try it out, everyone ended up getting a turn and feeling the thrill of it. The day continued on as some went hill-rolling, tree climbing, rip-sticking and some even golfed! Four o’clock approached and it was time to bring out the “goodbyes.” We thanked Ms. Hannay’s family and headed for New Jersey. Most slept on the three hour trip, but apparently Gregory did not sleep a wink. We arrived at about six fifty-ish. We checked in, got refreshed, and then later had a pizza party in the lobby area while watching Pitch Perfect and Jack the Giant Slayer. One by one the groupies and roomies went off to go catch some beauty sleep. And that’s how we spent our Easter!
