Everyone is excited!!! We are going into New York today!! Wake up call was at 6:30, everyone was up and had breakfast and was ready to go! We then took the hotel bus to Penn station where Miss. Hannay got all of us Metro Cards…, which took a while, there is 14 of us of course! “When are we getting there?’ students asked over and over again as we rode the PATH Train into the city. After taking the PATH Train we rode the Subway into New York City, exiting the station we were faced with lots of tall buildings. Every head was up, amazed at the tall buildings, especially the new World Trade Center.
Now we had to find our way to the MoMa (Museum of Modern Art), it took a lot of walking but we made it. We got to visit the sculpture garden at the MoMa before actually visiting the museum, for it opened at 10:30. People got to sit and rest for a while; others went to the bathroom, while some went to the bookstore. We saw lots of amazing arts; paintings, sculptures, etc. We saw the famous Andy Warhol’s “Campbells Soup” also Van Goth’s “Starry Night.”
After the MoMa we went to Time Square, we were engulfed by stores and lights. Everyone broke off into smaller groups and found their own lunch and also had free time…, which was shopping. And indeed we shopped till we dropped. After our leisure time we had dinner at Bubba Gumps, which you can guess, was named after Forest Gump. We had an amazing time, laughing, eating great food, and answering trivia questions about Forest. I (Stephanie) actually won the ultimate trivia question about Forest… “ How many cokes did Forest drink before he said he had to go to the bathroom?” The answer was 15, I actually did not know the answer, it was a random guess, which turned out to be correct.
After eating we made our way to our Broadway show, “Newsies” which was absolutely fantastic! Everyone enjoyed them selves. The show finished at about 10:30, the final step was getting to our hotel. Which was … interesting, since everyone was slow and tired. But we made it home after taking the Subway and The PATH train back to Penn station. We then took the hotel bus back to the hotel. We got to the hotel about 12:15, and everyone crashed! The day in the big City was finally over but they could not wait to go back the next day!
